News Article: San Francisco: PG&E; Participates in Emergency Preparedness Event at Fisherman’s Wharf

SAN FRANCISCO – At an emergency-preparedness event Friday (Oct. 12), Supervisor David Chiu referenced the problems that New Orleans had in dealing with and recovering from Hurricane Katrina and the subsequent flooding. “They didn’t have existing partnerships,” he said. Those partnerships, and the planning and practice that goes into preparing for emergencies and natural disasters was the motivation for the sixth annual PIERSafe Drill and Safety Expo held at Fisherman’s Wharf.
The Fisherman's Wharf Community Benefit District will be offering free Neighborhood Emergency Response Team (NERT) training courses, as part of its PIERsafe program. We would like to encourage as many community members as possible to show up for the two days of emergency preparedness education. NERT training will take place on two consecutive (you must attend both days) Wednesdays, April 25th and May 2nd. Both classes will be held at the Radisson Hotel Fisherman’s Wharf – Marine Room, from 8:30am – 5:30pm. Coffee will be offered in the morning.
