KOKEDAMA CLASS AT SUCCULENCE

During this monthly kokedama class, you will learn about the history and technique of the Japanese kokedama planting style with succulents.

This class is hands-on, so dress in clothes that you don't mind getting a little dirty and prepare to enjoy an evening of education, and creativity! Wine and light snacks as well as all supplies are included in the price.

ST. PATRICK'S DAY WITH GALLOWGLASSES

San Francisco Bay Area band, The Gallowglasses will perform a set that entails a playlist of traditional and modern Irish, Scottish, Celtic music. 🍀

The band plays all acoustic instruments, including guitar, fiddle, mandolin, Irish bouzouki, mandola and traditional percussion. All members sing, so expect 2 and 3 part harmonies at times. The Irish and Scottish tunes range from slow waltzes to foot-stomping jigs and reels.

Sailors and scallywags alike gather around for an evening of traditional sea songs and chanteys for the San Francisco Maritime National Historical Park’s monthly chantey on the first Saturday night of each month at 8 pm.

Park rangers will lead the public in traditional sea-faring tunes with lots of socializing aboard an historic ship.  The evening includes free hot cider for singers (that means you).

So make sure to RSVP  by calling 415-561-7171 or emailing peter_kasin@nps.govBring a mug for the cider and don’t forget warm clothes for an evening of sailor songs under the stars.

Tulip Mania

PIER 39’s iconic floral festival, Tulipmania, returns from February 8 – 17 with more than 39,000 blooming tulips and other seasonal garden favorites!

Enjoy the flowers’ beauty and learn helpful gardening tips by taking free guided tours led by PIER 39’s Landscaping experts.  Tours will begin at the sea lion topiary in the Entrance Plaza each morning at 10 a.m.  At the conclusion of each tour, participants will be treated to a free bag of six (6) mini donuts and one (1) small cup of coffee from Trish’s Mini Donuts.

Self-guided tours can also be taken any time during Tulipmania.  Click here to download the 2020 Self-Guided Tour.  The tulips typically begin blooming in early February and will last through mid-March (weather dependent).

The Veterans Day Parade will again be held at Fisherman’s Wharf on Sunday, November 11, 2018, starting at 11 a.m. This year, the parade will be a historic event because it is the 100th Anniversary of the ending of World War One, which ended on November 11, 1918, on the eleventh hour, of the eleventh day of the eleventh month. Because of the importance of this historic event, the United States has made this a National Centennial Commemoration.
