Part of living in San Francisco means dealing with tourists. And as spring closes in, you can expect plenty of camera-wielding folks from all four corners of the globe convening right in front of your doorstep.

According to the San Francisco Travel Association, 16.5 million tourists made a trip to S.F. in 2012, but determining exactly which landmarks they visited is a bit more challenging. Using rough estimates provided by officials and websites for specific landmarks, as well as from a 2011 tourism survey by the San Francisco Travel Association, we put together a list of S.F. landmarks by number of tourists visiting the locations annually.

If you’re a local who is less than charmed by throngs of visitors, this list will confirm what you already knew about certain places: avoid them at all costs. And if you’re a tourist, welcome! Hopefully this can help you with your itinerary.
