The San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA) releases the following upcoming event-related traffic and transit impacts for this weekend, Thursday, June 26 through Wednesday, July 2. Baseball Game Traffic Reroutes and Transportation Options
From Thursday, and through next Thursday, July 3, the San Francisco Giants will play seven home games at AT&T Park. Listed below are start times for these games.
Four games against Cincinnati Reds:

• 7:15 p.m., Thursday

• 7:15 p.m., Friday

• 7:05 p.m., Saturday

• 1:05 p.m., Sunday

 Three games against St. Louis Cardinals:

• 7:15 p.m., Tuesday
• 7:15 p.m., Wednesday
• 12:45 p.m., Thursday

The SFMTA advises motorists of the increased congestion in downtown San Francisco related to these special events and advises commuters to use transit, taxis, bicycles or walk and to avoid using the Bay Bridge in the two hours before or after these games.
 
As a reminder to fans, in order to reduce congestion on city streets after all events at AT&T Park, the SFMTA will close eastbound King Street between 3rd and 2nd streets from the seventh inning until after the post-game traffic has died down. Additionally, the northbound portion of the 4th Street (Peter R. Maloney) Bridge will be closed to all traffic except streetcars, buses, taxis and bicycles during the post-game period. Giants fans parked south of Mission Creek Channel who are heading north of the channel are encouraged to exit to the south along 3rd or 4th streets in order to avoid congestion on King and 3rd streets after AT&T Park events.

Critical Mass
 
On Friday at 6 p.m., the Critical Mass bicycle ride will begin at Justin Herman Plaza. Route is unknown.
 
There will be heavy traffic in the area. Motorists are advised to allow extra travel time.
 
Transgender March
 
On Friday at 6:15 p.m., the annual Transgender March will start from Dolores Park. The route will be as follows: north on Dolores Street, east on Market Street, north on Taylor Street and onto Turk Street where there will be a rally on Turk Street between Taylor and Jones streets. The rally will last for approximately an hour.
 
The following street closures will be required from 6 to 10 p.m.:

• Taylor Street between Turk and Eddy streets
• Turk Street between Mason and Taylor streets

Traffic along Market Street is expected to be very congested during the march. Motorists are advised to allow extra travel time or to use alternate routes.

Dyke March
 On Saturday the annual Dyke March and earlier festivities will take place on Dolores Street between 17th and 20th streets and on 18th Street between Church and Guerrero streets. The pre-event festivities will begin at 4 p.m. and the march will start at 6 p.m. Staging for the march will start at 5 p.m. on Dolores Street from 18th to 20th streets and also on 18th Street at Dolores Street.
 
The following street closures will be required from 2 to 8 p.m.:

• Dolores Street between 17th and 20th streets
• 18th Street between Church and Valencia streets

The march will begin at 6 p.m. with the following route: from Dolores Street, right on 18th Street, left on Valencia Street, left on 16th Street, left on Market Street into the Pink Saturday Celebration where the Dyke March After Party will take place.
 
Pink Saturday
On Saturday the Pink Saturday event will be held from 6 to 11 p.m. The following street closures will be required from 4:30 p.m., Saturday to 1 a.m., Sunday:

• Market Street between Diamond and Sanchez streets
• Castro Street between 19th and 16th streets
• 18th Street between Diamond and Noe streets
• Hartford Street between 17th and 19th streets
• 17th Street between Noe and Castro streets
• Collingwood Street between Market and 19th streets

All intersections within closure boundary will be closed. Other surrounding streets may also be closed to traffic for crowd control. Police will barricade Market Street from Sanchez to Diamond streets beginning at4:30 p.m. for traffic control. Muni bus shuttles will operate between 30th Street at Church Street and Steuart Terminal from 3 p.m. to 1 a.m., Sunday, stopping at the boarding islands on Market Street.
 
The following Muni lines and routes will be affected:

• J Church
• L Owl
• 22 Fillmore
• 24 Divisadero and 24 Owl
• 33 Stanyan
• 35 Eureka
• 37 Corbett

 
SF Pride Celebration
On Saturday from noon to 7 p.m., and on Sunday, from 10:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., the annual SF Pride Celebration will be held in the Civic Center Plaza. The following street closures will be in effect:
 
Starting at 9 a.m., Friday, the following street closures will be required:

• Grove Street between Polk and Larkin streets will be closed until 6 a.m., Monday
• Fulton Street between Hyde and Larkin streets will be closed until 3 p.m., Monday

Starting at 8 p.m., Friday and continuing until 6 a.m., Monday, the following street closures will be required:

• Dr. Carlton B. Goodlett Place between McAllister and Grove streets
• Polk Street between Grove and Market streets
• Lech Walesa Street between Van Ness Avenue and Polk Street
• Larkin Street between McAllister and Market streets
• Grove Street between Hyde Street and Van Ness Avenue
• Intersections: Grove and Polk streets, Polk Street and Lech Walesa, and Grove and Larkin streets.

Note: The intersection of McAllister and Larkin streets will remain open until 8 p.m., Saturday.
 
Starting at 5 a.m., Saturday and continuing until 6 a.m., Monday, the following street closure will be required:

• Hyde Street between McAllister and Market streets
• Intersections: Grove and Fulton streets at Hyde Street

Starting at 8 p.m., Saturday and through 6 a.m., Monday, there will be additional street closures to accommodate the large crowd expected on Sunday:

• McAllister Street Van Ness Avenue and Leavenworth Street
• Golden Gate Avenue between Van Ness Avenue and Leavenworth Street
• An extension of Polk, Larkin and Hyde streets northerly to Turk Street
• All alleys within the closure boundary

All northbound traffic coming from 9th Street will be directed to use Hayes Street to either Van Ness Avenue or Franklin Street. Southbound traffic on Polk Street should use Golden Gate Avenue to Hyde Street until Saturday evening when both Hyde Street and Golden Gate Avenue will be closed.
 
Motorists are encouraged to avoid the Civic Center area on Saturday and Sunday as there will be extreme congestion especially on Sunday.
 
Event participants are strongly encouraged to take public transportation or bicycles to this event as parking and traffic will be extremely difficult.
 
All Muni Metro trains will stop at Civic Center station for the Pride Celebration and Parade, as well as at Powell and Montgomery stations for the Pride Parade.
 
Muni Impacts
Due to street closures in the Civic Center area during the Pride Parade and Celebration, the following muni routes will be affected until 6 a.m. Monday:

• 5 Fulton (except Friday)
• 19 Polk
• 21 Hayes

Bicycle Parking
On Saturday and Sunday, unmonitored bicycle parking will be available in front of the library on Grove Street between Larkin Street and Hyde Street. On Sunday only, monitored bicycle parking will be located at Hastings Plaza on the northeast corner of Hyde and McAllister streets. The San Francisco Bicycle Coalition will staff Sunday’s bicycle parking.
 
Taxi Zones
On Saturday and Sunday, taxi zones will be set up on Van Ness Avenue in front of City Hall and on the south side of Turk Street between Polk and Larkin streets.
 
Muni Ticket Sales
Muni one-way and round-trip tickets (at regular fare) will be sold on both Saturday and Sunday at select locations.

• $4 round trip for Adults (ages 18-64)
• $1.50 round trip for seniors (ages 65 and older), people with disabilities and youth (ages 5-17)

SF Pride Parade
The annual SF Pride Parade will take place on Sunday beginning at 10:30 a.m. from the lower Market Street formation area. The parade will commence at Market and Beale streets and proceed west on Market Street to Hyde and 8th streets, where it will disband on 8th Street.
 
At 9:30 a.m. Market Street from Steuart Street to Van Ness Avenue will be closed for the parade. All intersections will be closed to cross traffic during the parade, which is scheduled to end at approximately 5 p.m. As each section of Market Street is cleaned by the Department of Public Works personnel, it will be reopened.
 
The following streets comprise the formation area will be closed beginning at 7 a.m. Traffic on the cross streets will be allowed to continue, subject to delays, except when parade units are actually crossing the intersections:

• Beale Street from Market to Folsom streets
• Main Street from Market to Folsom streets
• Spear Street from Market to Folsom streets
• Steuart Street from Market to Folsom streets
• Market Street from Beale to Steuart streets

 
Muni lines that normally operate on Market Street will be rerouted to Mission Street.
Mission Street between The Embarcadero and Van Ness Avenue will be posted as “Tow Away/No Parking” and will be restricted to transit, taxis, and bicycles only. Both Van Ness Avenue and The Embarcadero will be open for through traffic.
 
Muni Impacts
Service that normally travels on or crosses Market Street will be affected by the parade. The following lines and routes will be affected:

REMINDER: Lombard Street between Larkin and Leavenworth Closures
 
The pilot project designed to increase safety and reduce congestion on the part of Lombard Street known as the “Crooked Street” will continue. Lombard Street between Larkin and Leavenworth streets will be closed to vehicular traffic on a trial basis from approximately noon to 6 p.m. on the following dates:

• June 28
• June 29
• July 4
• July 5
• July 6
• July 12
• July 13

During the closure, vehicular access for residents and emergency vehicles will be allowed. Taxis will be allowed during the pilot closures. Pedestrian and bicycle traffic will not be restricted, and Muni service will not be affected.
 
UPDATE: Market and Haight Streets Transit and Pedestrian Improvement Project
 
The Market and Haight Streets Transit and Pedestrian Improvement Project, collaborated with several city agencies, around the Market and Haight streets neighborhood will reduce transit travel time, enhance pedestrian safety and create a more seamless pedestrian route to and from Haight Street. This ongoing project includes:

• Construction of an eastbound transit-only lane between Laguna and Market streets to allow Muni buses to travel in both directions, thus reducing transit travel time;
• Widening of sidewalks and the construction of bulb outs to enhance pedestrian safety; and
• A more seamless pedestrian route to and from Haight Street by upgrading the traffic signals

Sidewalk improvement work has begun at the southwest corner of Market/Haight/Gough intersection. Pedestrian access to the sidewalk may be limited.
 
On Saturday, crews will be replacing the water main at the Haight and Octavia intersection from 7 a.m. to late afternoon. Two traffic lanes will be closed from each direction on Octavia Street. Vehicular traffic will be diverted to the access road on each side of the street. Slow traffic is expected in the area.
 
Other Ongoing Construction Activities:

• Water main replacement on Haight between Market and Octavia streets
• Sewer work on Haight between Octavia and Laguna streets
• Miscellaneous sewer work at Haight/Gough/Market Streets
• Sidewalk improvement work at southeast corner of the Market/Haight/Gough intersection
• Overhead wire work at various locations

Work hours are from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. The streets will remain open. Muni service will not be affected. Street parking will not be available around the job sites during work hours.
 
UPDATE: Columbus Avenue Transit Bulb and Sidewalk Improvements Construction
 
The SFMTA has been constructing full length transit bulbs on Columbus Avenue between Filbert and Union streets. Transit bulbs are an extension of the sidewalk that improve service reliability by eliminating the need for buses to merge in and out of traffic at the stop, and make it easier and safer for Muni customers to board the bus. The project is expected to continue and to complete in mid-August.
The Muni 30 Stockton and 8X Bayshore Express routes will be affected during the construction.
 
Construction will take place between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. on weekdays.
Lane closures and traffic delays during construction hours are expected.
 
Interstate 280 Bridge Hinge Replacement Project
 
Beginning at 9 p.m., Wednesday, July 2 and through 5 a.m., Monday, July 7, the California Department of Transportation will conduct construction work to replace a bridge hinge on Interstate 280 between Cesar Chavez and 24th streets.
 
A full closure of I-280 northbound will be required during the Fourth of July Holiday long weekend.

• Northbound on-ramp closures include:
  • Alemany Boulevard
  • U.S. 101 connector to northbound Interstate 280
  • Indiana and 25th streets
  • 18th Street

• Northbound off-ramp closures include:
  • Cesar Chavez Street
  • Mariposa Street
  • 6th Street
  • King Street

Northbound I-280 traffic will be detoured to US-101. Southbound I-280 will remain open.
 
Additional closure is planned for this project:

• Labor Day Holiday Weekend (Thursday, August 28 – September 2)

REMINDER: Sunday Parking Meter Changes Coming Soon
 
Starting July 6 on-street meters and off-street parking meters will not require payment on Sundays, except meters on SF Port property. 
 
Exceptions to this change in policy are areas where meters operated on Sundays prior to the addition ofSunday operating hours in January 2013. This includes:

• Port of San Francisco jurisdiction meters
• Fisherman’s Wharf area meters
• Some (but not all) SFMTA-managed metered parking lots (retaining those that operated on Sundays prior to 2013)

In order to help remind the public of the change, during the first three Sundays in July, SFMTA Parking Control Officers will place informational flyers on vehicles parked at expired meters in areas where Sundaymeters will remain operational.
