“I just got my full tasting license three days ago,” said Mike Pollastro, as he prepared a platter of olive oils, vinegars, wines, cheeses, and fruits at his Vom Fass tasting shop in Ghirardelli Square at San Francisco’s Fisherman’s Wharf.
The board of the Fisherman’s Wharf Community Benefit District (FWCBD) hired Randall Scott as its new Executive Director. Randall comes to the FWCBD from the Union Square Business Improvement District (USBID), where he held the position of Director of Services.
Now don’t give me the whole “locals don’t do Fisherman’s Wharf” thing. You know you secretly love the touristy stuff as much as your vacationing cousin from Poughkeepsie does. So even if he’s not visiting, it’s perfectly OK to grab a bowl o’ chowder and enjoy the classic fun on your own.
The 156-year-old San Francisco landmark is going through a major renaissance, with several new and singular destinations reviving it as a hot spot for eating, drinking and playing, from a cheese school and an award-winning brewery to a new Latin street-food eatery.
Earlier this week, The Fisherman's Wharf Community Benefit District (FWCBD) debuted a Treasure Hunt at the Wharf as part of an initiative to bring more local residents to the neighborhood.
