PIER 39 is spreading Holiday cheer on San Francisco’s Waterfront! The PIER is unwrapping a new, nightly tree lighting show on its 60’ Christmas tree at the top of each hour from 5 -10pm, November 21, 2018 through January 1, 2019.

The board of the Fisherman’s Wharf Community Benefit District (FWCBD) hired Randall Scott as its new Executive Director. Randall comes to the FWCBD from the Union Square Business Improvement District (USBID), where he held the position of Director of Services.
Now don’t give me the whole “locals don’t do Fisherman’s Wharf” thing. You know you secretly love the touristy stuff as much as your vacationing cousin from Poughkeepsie does. So even if he’s not visiting, it’s perfectly OK to grab a bowl o’ chowder and enjoy the classic fun on your own.
The 156-year-old San Francisco landmark is going through a major renaissance, with several new and singular destinations reviving it as a hot spot for eating, drinking and playing, from a cheese school and an award-winning brewery to a new Latin street-food eatery.
The new, 20,000-square-foot Lefty’s — it’s now called Lefty’s Ballpark Buffet and Cafe — is three times the size of the old place. The downstairs resembles an airport terminal, a big open space with a 3,500-square-foot Giants Dugout store flowing into a Starbucks-affiliated cafe.
