The Blue Angels air show and Naval parade for Fleet Week are cancelled for 2013, but don't fret! Fisherman's Wharf is throwing the ultimate celebration this October. Come to the inaugural Wharf Fest, a free festival onOctober 26 and 27, to celebrate the legacy of San Francisco's historic waterfront district and enjoy achowder competition, live music, food & wine, art, craft beer tasting, a chef's demonstration kitchen,children's activities and rides, and more. Saturday will be topped off with a screening of the award-winningfilms from last year's San Francisco International Ocean Film Festival at the Bay Theater and a spectacularfireworks show at PIER 39.

Wharf Fest marks milestone occasions for Fisherman's Wharf such as PIER 39's 35th Anniversary and the50th Anniversary of Hyde Street Pier's public opening.
Family-friendly entertainment will extend throughout Fisherman's Wharf, on Jefferson and Beach Streets from Ghirardelli Square to PIER 39. Several blocks of Jefferson Street will be closed for pedestrian-only access and special exhibitors including Fisherman's Wharf merchants, local artists, and seafood restaurants.

At Wharf Fest's chowder competition, on Saturday, October 26, the restaurants of California's chowder capital will battle it out for the title of best Fisherman's Wharf chowder. Contestants will range from classic establishments like Bistro Boudin, Alioto's and Fisherman's Grotto #9 to new Wharf restaurants.
