THE CANNERY’s Giving Tree Unveiling
This holiday season THE CANNERY will have on display a unique Christmas Tree. The tree is named the “Giving Tree” because it is made up of canned goods donated by Del Monte. This unusual 8-foot-tree will be unveiled on Friday, December 4, 2009 at 10 a.m. at THE CANNERY’s Outdoor Courtyard. The tree will be on public display through Sunday, January 3, 2010. The “Giving Tree” is THE CANNERY’s and Del Monte’s thank you to the San Francisco community during this season of charity. All canned goods that fill and decorate the tree will be donated by Del Monte Foods. THE CANNERY is then giving the collected canned goods to the San Francisco Food Bank. The frame of the “Giving Tree” is made out of forest certified maple plywood that has been sustainably harvested with a water based finish. It was designed and constructed by Oakland based design-build studio Because We Can. The design of the tree combines a whimsical look with the fun and festiveness of the holiday season. |
